"Why does my desktop PC boot itself?"?

Once was an anomaly. But it's happened twice. I put the machine to Hibernate. After it shuts down I turn off a power strip to which the computer is connected. The next day when I turn on the power strip the machine boots itself to the state it was in when I set it to Hibernate. Never touch the power button on the computer. Huh?
