Why do some people deliberately flaunt their sexuality?

I have a friend who is a lesbian & she constantly flaunts it to the point it becomes extremely irritating. You can ask her simple things & her reply would be "Because I'm gay" she goes on & on that "she loves women" without reason to. She believes if you are gay you must look gay so she cut all her hair off & now looks like a male. I however am a lesbian & I am me,I feel no need to flaunt it,if I'm asked I tell & I have my own style & refuse to fall into any stereotype so why flaunt it? She goes on how society hates gays etc but in all honesty times have changed & that is no longer true in many aspects.
